Immediately after WW1 in Aden there was a lack of contemporary photographs for postcards. Two retailers, Cowasjee Dinshaw & Bros and Pallonjee, Dinshaw & Co, used the same photographs taken around 1900, or just before, by the photographer J M Coutinho. The first contemporary Real Photo set to be issued (consisting of 20 numbered cards) was by Pallonjee, Dinshaw & Co around 1925. These two are no.16 (The Signal Station) and no.18 (The War Memorial, Prince of Wales Pier). Apart from some wear to corners, these cards are in quite good condition.

These two cards below are from Pallonjee Dinshaw's set of 20 cards which was issued around 1925. Previous 'Real Photos' by Pallonjee Dinshaw (issued post-WW1) were of photgraphs taken in the 1890s, so this was a major development in Aden cards. The use of whitewash on the buildings was much in vogue!
Note in the lower card Queen Victoria's statue in the background. Most of the motor cars in Aden at that time were taxis; no horse-drawn garries are visible, probably due to horse-sickness not permitting horses to be brought inside the isthmus. Note also the camel-drawn water cart.
